Hello All Whom This May Interest,
The listing here gets you a FULLY REBUILT passenger side bow extension cylinder (MB part: 1298001872 and 1248000272) that fits all models SL280, SL300, SL320, SL500, SL600, SL60, SL73 years 1989-2002.
This cylinder is not like 99% of the ones on ebay, meaning they are not pulled from parts cars in a open junkyard claiming to be "fully functional." These cylinders have been collected over the years by me at my classic German car shop and REBUILT IN HOUSE using my own design seals that my friend in Germany prints and ships to me from his manufacturing plant.
They are all OEM Mercedes Benz cylinders, NOT CHINESE OR URO PARTS knock-offs. They have all been completely gone through and had shaft seals AND o-rings replaced, shafts polished, and cylinder bodies honed. They are completely ready to go into your SL and be used for years to come.
Message me with any questions, we'll get it sorted and your top working flawlessly again!
Zac
-About me-
I am an avid auto addict with a small shop in the Dallas, TX, area, specializing in German cars of BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche makes and models. I own an extensive personal collection of vehicles that I have maintained myself over the years, picking up knowledge from my dad and grandpa, who were both German car techs and nerds. Recently, I added the ability for other fellow enthusiasts around the United States to utilize my expertise to bring their cars to true German OEM quality.
The R129 is one of my favorite timeless German classics (I own 2), but as everything in this world, it's not perfect. The hydraulic tops in these cars, while way ahead of their time in terms of hydraulic and mechanical engineering, did not utilize superior materials in their construction, simply because modern materials didn't exist 20 years ago. The seal material used in the cylinders decays with time, regardless of mileage or use. I saw cars with 200k miles and 26k miles have the same problem: a leaking hydraulic top. Hence why I decided to take matters into my own hands. I designed my own dual lip seals and commissioned a German seal manufacturer to make then out of modern Viton rubber, being extra corrosion resistant while simultaneously remaining flexible to avoid pinching and deteriorating inside the cylinders.
