Veverka's Spawning Mantis Shrimp

Developed by Bob Veverka this simple pattern has been one of the most consistent and super effective bonefish patterns ever!  I personally prefer to fish the spawning version since I strongly feel from my own experience that a subtle orange spot is a steroid like strike trigger for bones!

I've included five different sili-leg color options which include the following:

       Pumpkin - Which is best for typical tan to darker colored flats

       Ghost - Semi-clear (Sand) which is best for very light to white sand flats

       Amber - I just love this color when chasing bones

       Crusher - Chicone's Brown Crusher legs another variation for tan to darker colored flats

       Ascension Bay - Yellow eyes and yellow sand Chicone crusher legs.  Ascension Bay specific variation.

Five weighting options are available:

-  Blind (No weight)

-  Small Beadchain Eyes (Sm BC)

-  Medium Beadchain Eyes (Med BC) - This is the most common weighting option for hook sizes 2 through 6

-  Small Brass Barbell Eyes 1/8" (Sm BB) - Good for size 4 or 6

-  Medium Brass Barbell Eyes 5/32" (Med BB) - Recommend for Size 2 and 4

-  Large Brass Barbell Eyes 3/16" (Lg BB) - Recommended for Size 2 only

These is are Must Have patterns when bone fishing throughout the Bahamas (including the Turks and Caicos), Cuba, and  Yucatan/Belize!  Never leave home without some!

Tied on Premium Chemically Sharpened Gamakatsu Hooks!  Same hooks used on all Enrico Puglisi (EP) Flies and SS Flies!

  

I have been tying and fishing the salt for nearly 40 years.  Of all the hooks I have used I settled on Gamakatsu in the 1990's.  Sharpest hook out of the box I have ever found and have never lost a fish due to a broken hook or straightening, that includes Bonefish, GT, Roosterfish, Marlin, Dorado, Tuna and Tarpon.
