In the 1980s, from the cultural institution, the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, the serigraphy workshop

"René Portocarrero" was created, founded by the creator Aldo Menéndez and supported by a group of artists including Francisco Bernal, Pepe Herrera, Fernando García, and Rubén Rodríguez, among others. From its beginnings, this workshop, driven by the artists themselves, became a true generator of cultural projects that had a great impact on Cuban cultural life. The quality of the serigraph prints was such that, at that time, prints of various works by Cuban avant-garde artists such as Víctor Manuel, Carlos Enríquez, René Portocarrero, Amelia Peláez, and others were produced.

This serigraphy showcases one of the iconic images of the painter Víctor Manuel's work, a renewing figure of modern art in Cuba, and his recurrent female faces, which are symbolic identities of his creative work

En la década de 1980, desde la institución cultural Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales, se creó el taller de serigrafía

“René Portocarrero”, fundado por el creador Aldo Menéndez y apoyado por un grupo de artistas entre los que se encontraban Francisco Bernal, Pepe Herrera, Fernando García y Rubén Rodríguez, entre otros. Desde sus inicios, este taller, impulsado por los propios artistas, se convirtió en un verdadero generador de proyectos culturales que tuvieron un gran impacto en la vida cultural cubana. La calidad de las estampas serigráficas era tal que, en esa época, se produjeron estampas de diversas obras de artistas de la vanguardia cubana como Víctor Manuel, Carlos Enríquez, René Portocarrero, Amelia Peláez y otros.

Esta serigrafía muestra una de las imágenes icónicas de la obra del pintor Víctor Manuel, figura renovadora del arte moderno en Cuba, y sus recurrentes rostros femeninos, que son identidades simbólicas de su quehacer creativo.
