The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Certified RIAA GOLD Record Award for "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" Volume Two 

The award includes a a GOLD mounted 12” record album and GOLD Cassette..The official RIAA (Holorgraphic logo) metal plaque has a miniature LP cover replica with the inscription “To commemorate the sale of more than 500,000 copies of the MCA RECORDS Album, Cassette and C.D.” The award was presented to the legendary Nashville recording studio Masterfonics, The award was made by DEJAY PRODUCTS under license from RIAA.

Will the Circle Be Unbroken: Volume Two is the nineteenth studio album by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, released on May 1, 1989. The album follows the same concept as the band's 1972 album, Will the Circle Be Unbroken, which featured guest performances from many notable country music stars. Circle II features largely acoustic, bluegrass music instrumentation with a line-up of contemporary country music artists that includes Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Michael Martin Murphey and Ricky Skaggs. Returnees from the first Circle are bluegrass musician Jimmy Martin, banjoist Earl Scruggs, fiddler Vassar Clements and singer Roy Acuff. Other artists represent the rock, folk and pop genres, including Levon Helm from The Band, John Denver, John Prine, John Hiatt and Bruce Hornsby.

The original album was considered a breakthrough in bridging generational and musical differences between the old guard of Nashville and the younger country rock movement.

Volume Two won the Country Music Association's 1989 Album of the Year as well as three Grammys thanks to a stellar cast that includes John Denver, Johnny Cash, the Carter Family, Bruce Hornsby, Ricky Skaggs, Chris Hillman, Roger McGuinn, Rosanne Cash, Steve Wariner, Roy Acuff, Chet Atkins. Tracks were all recorded in one "take," with no overdubs, making the outstanding musicianship particularly noteworthy.
