The company was founded by August Hofbauer in 1931, naming the company Vineland Glassworks. They produced both laboratory glassware and art glass. When Hofbauer was unable to pay his bills, the electric company took over the Vineland Glassworks and renamed it "Beacon Glass." Beacon Glass shut down in 1949.
