Circa. 19th century. “Akor” silver and turquoise ear ornaments. Ear pendants such as these were too bulky to be worn from the ears and so were they hung at either side of the face hiding both ears and facing forwards to show their inset stones.


However;these are two different Akors and they have been modified into hooks to fasten an aprons. Such aprons are worn over the shoulder or around the wasit depending on the region in Tibet.


These were prevalent among Lhasa women of that time and especially among the aristocrats. The pair shows goods signs of wear, age and date to the nineteenth century or later.
