TWO Pieces - This elegant spread/comforter and matching unlined spread, were purchased in England in 1994, from a private estate sale in the Cotswolds.  A fine wool challis*(but possibly raw silk, fine linen)? I'm not sure, with embroidered silk trees, cranes and deer, it was originally purchased @1900, thought to be Japanese, but possibly Chinese...the cranes and spotted dear make me think Chinese - I cannot say definitely.  Asian certainly.
The lined spread is a generous 95"L x 78"W, easily covering a double bed or larger bed if used with other covering.  It is displayed on a queen size bed. Slight fraying on back, easily repaired or replace the whole lining. Could easily be incorporated into a larger spread, or add a whole border. Top is very good. *Two very small slight spots...hard to see, can probably be cleaned, but will leave that to buyer.
The unlined spread measures 96"L x80"W (a little large with not being sewn into comforter). Embroidery is tight and colors vibrant.  Back is as pretty as front...I think embroidery is hand done. (Last photo shows back embroidery, no strings, which is why I think hand-done). Another bedspread? Throw? Line and create pretty drapes.
