The BTR-152 is a Soviet armored personnel carrier, created on the basis of units and assemblies of the ZIS-151 truck.
The BTR-152 wheeled armored personnel carrier was developed shortly after the end of World War II, in 1946-1947 at the ZIS plants. The vehicle entered service with the Soviet Army in 1950. Serial production of the vehicle took place in 1950-1962, and the total production of the car is estimated at around 12,400 units of all versions. The vehicle was powered by a 110 HP six-cylinder carburettor engine and took up to 17 landing troops. The crew consisted of two people: the commander and the mechanic-driver.
Since 1951, intensive work was underway to install a more powerful means of combating low-flying targets on the BTR - a quadruple anti-aircraft mount ZTPU-4 with large-caliber 14.5-mm KPV machine guns with 2,000 rounds of ammunition. In 1952, two such ZIS-152D models were built, but they were not brought to a large series - in 1954, only two vehicles of the pilot batch were manufactured.
