Second City Salvage offers this old pendant/lantern, probably
from about c1915 that has been restored.
The frame of the light and the applied castings are a mix of wrought and
cast iron and the canopy (4" square x 3 1/2"h) and chain in
brass. The patina on this light is
original and it has only been lightly cleaned.
The lantern itself measures 6 1/2" square x 11" h and the
overall drop once installed is 19" from the ceiling. It cannot be shortened but chain can be
added. The slag pieces appear to be original
and are in mint condition. The light is
unmarked and I am in process of trying to find out who the manufacturer was,
probably commercially made and not hand crafted. It accepts a standard base bulb and will come
to you with updated wiring and a modern cross bar needed for installation. It could be installed inside or outdoors and
would be great under a porch roof!
