Custom-Built 2.5 Gallon (approx.) Laboratory/ Pilot Scale Medium-Pressure Vacuum Infiltration Reactor Chamber Vessel, Aluminum Wide Mouth.

This was originally constructed from an aluminum SCUBA tank for vacuum/pressure infiltration of lumber.  Top is 7/16" thick aluminum skid plate with captive o-ring groove held on by four 5/8" diameter bolts.  The flange is 1" thick welded to tank inside and out.

Inside diameter is 6", but the weld bead at top restricts clearance to ~5.5".  Inside depth is 22.5".  Overall height of tank is 23.5 to top of flange, not including bolts or lid.  Bolt circle is 8.25" on-center.  Weight is 33#.  Current ball valve with is installed (has 3/8 or possibly 1/2" NPT threaded hole in center of lid).  Lid could be easily modified to accept additional ports, gauges, dip tubes, thermocouples, or stirrers.

I do not know the Safe Pressure Limit of this vessel.  I know it was routinely used (about 20 times) with a charge over-pressure of 150 psi and heated to 80 degrees C with no problems.  Wood was placed inside and system was then evacuated (vacuum) and aqueous chemical solutions were sucked-in.  Then, it was charged with Nitrogen pressure and heated in a water bath for several hours.

This Experimental Device can probably hold moderately higher pressures, depending on temperature.  O-ring would probably fail before metal or bolts.  This is a potentially hazardous device that could cause injury or property damage if used improperly, or by untrained personnel.  Buyer assumes full responsibility for safety or damages caused by use of device, and agrees to hold Seller harmless from all liability.
