Medieval warfare was increasingly dominated by sieges. No matter how many battles you lost in the field, if you held cities, and especially castles, you were still in a strong position. There had been a number of siege-building products released in recent times, notably from Zvezda and Orion, but an obvious problem was the lack of figures specifically designed to use these engines. This set seemed to promise to remedy that, although as we shall see, the promise was only partially fulfilled.
