Super beautiful necklace! strand of large Akoya pearls with substantial in size clasp. the pearls are 7.5-8mm each.

a little info about sizes of akoya pearls:

Typical Akoya pearls range from 5 mm to 11 mm, with the 10 and 11 mm sizes rare finds. The most common size and the best value is between 7.0mm - 7.5mm with a sharp jump at anything 8.0mm and above.

the clasp set with Solid Australian high britness Neon Fiery semi black semicrystal Lightning Ridge Opal! Opal has no cracks/no visible wear/no crazing! opal approx 9.2x6.8mm, surrounded by baby opals round cabochons of approx 3mm each - halo Victorian style setting! each baby opal set in a crown like setting and the main opal set in multiprong setting - all very popular in Victorian era! absolutely made in Victorian style! the clasp itself heavy and thick; works well. the cluster of the clasp is 16.8x14.2mm! the clasp like a big ring would be! the total lenght of the clasp when clasped is 21.5 mm including loops.

the length of the necklace is 16” when clasped! may need to be restrung for security as it is in original condition and I have no idea when last time it was restrung. the cord looks unstretched but the necklace is vintage so recommended to restrung it.

it is solid opal - not triplet not doublet not glued! solid and natural!
