A nice old mask from the Sepik River.....dates from the mid 20th century....possible earlier (c 1930 - 1950s).

This mask has good signs of use.....indicative of much handling/ceremonial function.

This ceremonial artifact has a Michael Hamson gallery/inventory sticker.

I believe the eye sockets would've held shell rings; they fell out a long time ago. Subsequently, eye sockets were painted white.

Length is 20.5 inches......Width is 6 inches.

A nice mask that looks  much better in person.
