Our Lady of Lourdes is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary in honor of the Marian apparitions that occurred on numerous occasions in 1858 in the vicinity of Lourdes, France.  The religious grotto where St. Bernadette Soubirous received 18 apparitions of the Immaculate Conception from February 11 to July 16, 1858, was officially consecrated by Pope Pius IX in 1862.  Long a pilgrimage site where the ill came with all manner of malady and to acquire its famed healing water, a basilica was built on the site of the apparitions in 1876.  Our Lady of Lourdes? principal feast is celebrated on February 11th.
