A wonderfully detailed tonal study by contemporary American artist James Aponovich (b. 1948). Born in Nashua, NH, Aponovich lives in New Hampshire and has become very well known nationally for his still lifes against Italian landscapes and figure painting. His work may be seen in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Portland Museum of Art.
This work is graphite on paper, and is inscribed across the lower border “Composition/Tonal Study, Parrot Tulips Saco River Valley,” signed lower left, dated on gallery label on verso 2014, with small artist bio, matted and framed under glass in a simple ebonized frame.
