The original pad kit used on the MGB is made of plastic and works similar to plastic dry wall anchors. This method creates an insecure fitment causing the mirror to teeter on its base as well as allowing water to seep into the door. Alternatively this kit uses rivet nuts to securely fasten to the door and uses a UV and ozone resistant rubber pad.
