Vintage Navajo Sand Painting “YEI BEI CHAI” by Tom Clark

Written on the back of the painting in cursive writing:

"Yei - Ba - Chai,  Giant, This sandpainting used in Navaho (spelling incorrectly) religion and ceremonys (also spelled incorrectly). The sand is natural material. 72"

"Tom Clark, Box 458, Shiprock, NM 87420"

Also on the back is the original tag from the Shiprock Trading Co. with some writing on it that is not easily recognizable and then 48.

This frame appears to be original and is in excellent condition as is the sand painting as well.

The sand painting is: 8" x 14" and with the frame is: 9-1/8" x 15-1/8". The frame is made of wood and has a gold accent on the top surface.

A picture frame wire has been strung through two 'hook and eye' screws and this is ready to hang. The original paper seal to the back has been torn open so that the writing could be seen on the original art. This can be restored by the buyer.
