Illustrated edition of German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's most popular work, Faust, a play originally published in 1808, translated to English here by American author Bayard Taylor. The plot of the play concerns a man who sells his soul to the devil in his pursuit of knowledge. Firm binding; light wear to boards; small owner stamp to front endpaper; interior is clean and free of markings. Original dust jacket has normal wear, with chipping to edges and corners; it is now protected with a mylar cover.
