Rina The Amazing Story Of Recovery.
This book is about my wife who surprised all her family and friends by surviving palliative care treatment.
She chose to die at Wobble-Inn, the home of our daughter. We were staying with my sister on the other side of Auckland and the decision was made on the spot (Hamilton Waikato Hospital) to move Rina direct to Wobble-Inn.
Rina has a twin brother, Phil Malan, who lives in Johannesburg area of South Africa. We had lost close contact about six or seven years ago but re-established communication with the sad news that Rina was expected to die within weeks. Our son made contact with all our family and friends to pass on our ‘bad news’, days in stead of months.
I counted the days and weeks and was about to stop counting when I reached sixty days, but her care-giver Pam De Luca convinced me to continue till 100 days before giving up the count. Meanwhile, three family members died before Rina! The first was my elder brother, Jan Geldenhuys, who died of a heart attack on Rina’s day 48 (5th July, 20210, then her youngest brother Frans Malan’s mother-in-law on the 7th July 2021 and our brother-in-law Nic van Aardt on 6th September 2021.
This book records Rina’s amazing story of recovery.
