Although this was originally developed for the US Military (in the cockpits of jet fighters) the price has come down dramatically and the number of applications increased exponentially. Merco M160 is ideal for a watertight insulated overwrap of any electrical connection, indoors and out. It offers excellent moisture and chemical resistance as well. It's ideal for harness wrapping, cooling system repairs, automotive and general fluid hose repair, extension cord wrap, handle grip, home and garden, jumper cable protection, plumbing repairs, tool handle grip, hydraulics, radiator hose repair and more.
Merco M160 offers superb utility as an alternative for electrical tape on marine applications. It can be applied UNDER WATER! M160 offers excellent UV and ozone resistance, and corrosion protection. Ok, for real. How does it do this? The unsupported silicone rubber compound we use in our substrate gives M160 amazing self-bonding properties. (We almost called this the Ron Popeil Tape: Set It and Forget It) These self-bonding properties offer excellent conformability and adherence to irregular and nontraditional surfaces. Pull it, s-t-r-e-t-c-h and pull some more and the tape will self-bond onto itself. The very tension you are creating causes Merco M160 to form a homogeneous mass within 24 hours. (The adhesion can be accelerated with heat and pressure.) It will become watertight in no time, and in 24 hours you'll have a blob of silicone on whatever it was you were wrapping. It can't be unwound at that point: you'd need to cut it off. And of course, because there is no adhesive there will be no residue when you do cut it off.
