Beautiful original oil painting by the famed artist/ illustrator/scientist/ writer Louis Darling. ( 1916 - 1970 ) Darling was an early advocate of land and water conservation and a strong voice through his work for the protection, and love, of all Nature. He is perhaps most famous for his illustrations for the Beverly Cleary Henry Huggins and Ramona series of children's books. He is also famous for illustrating Rachael Carson's " Silent Spring". In 1966 Darling won the Burroughs Award for his book " The Gull's Way "
