In 1955 he served as a member of the Cultural Department of the general political department. In 1959, he served as consultant to the Art Museum of the Chinese people's Revolutionary Military museum. In 1981 he served as vice president of Chinese painting research institute. Huang Zhou is a famous Chinese artist, member of the sixth, Seventh National Committee of CPPCC, standing committee member of the eighth CPPCC National Committee, consultant of Arts and crafts company of former light industry department and managing director of China Artists association.
