PLUS, THE REALLY RARE FEATURE...the Promotional Hole Punched in the Corner.
Back then, if Capitol set aside LPs for promotional purposes to send to radio stations, newspapers, television stations, others in the industry, giveaways, etc., they would sometimes needle PROMOTIONAL COPY onto the vinyl on the label and stamp it on the outside jacket. This copy includes a plain white inner sleeve and an industrial sized hole punched into the corner of the jacket, inner sleeve, and promotional cut-outs artwork sheet.
This hole is an industrial sized 3/8" hole, NOT a standard sized 1/4" that is on your desk. Record shops, department stores, drug stores, and wherever LPs were sold, would either use a standard 1/4" hole or cut off the corner to put it in a discount bin. Sometimes, they would even drill through the corner of a stack of LPs at one time. That is not what this is. The hole is nearly the size of a dime (see photos), and along with the plain white inner sleeve, it is obvious this LP was part of the special, late FINAL MONO run and they were out of the common red inner sleeve.
THIS IS THE RAREST VERSION OF ALL.
Condition:
Cover & Cut-Outs Flyer Art:
The cover's exterior and interior, along with the cut-outs promo flyer insert are in incredible condition, with vibrant colors, and very little image wear if at all. They display extremely well and will be the hallmark of your collection. Next to the Industrial Hole Punch, the cover is separated about 1" on the corner, but it does not effect its appeal.
Vinyl LP:
See photos of the label. Both Sides are in Amazing Condition.
The vinyl grooves contain MANY surface scratches. It played well on my system when I acquired this LP in 1979. It has been in storage since. I can't guarantee the sound quality. HAVING SAID THIS....
PLEASE NOTE: YOU ARE NOT PURCHASING THIS FOR SOUND QUALITY. IT WILL NOT SOUND ANY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER 50 YEAR-OLD BEATLES ALBUM. RECORD CLEANING FLUID WAS RUBBING ALCOHOL-BASED BACK THEN. BUY THE CD!
