Vintage Pewter by Poole Taunton, MA B012 6 Flower Tulip Bowl.
Founded in Taunton, Massachusetts, the Poole Silver Company operated from 1892 to 1971. In addition to its silver wares, the firm was also well-known for its pewter offerings.
In 1892, George Poole and Edward Roche joined forces under the name “Poole, Roche & Co.” Three years later, on May 21st of 1895, they incorporated the business, establishing themselves as silver manufacturers specializing in the technique of electroplating. By 1900, the dynamic duo was located at 106 Whittenton Street, Taunton, and working out of a tiny two-room facility. In 1946, the company added sterling silver flatware, hollowware, and cutlery to its considerable list of offerings. At some point, the business’s name transitioned to “Poole Silver Company,” which it retained until its acquisition by Towle Silversmiths in 1971.
While the firm proudly wore the word “silver” in its very title, its pewter products ought not to be overlooked. Aside from its silver and sterling fancies, Poole Silver also put forth many excellent, elegant, and high-quality pewter iterations to rival its best-selling silver plates, platters, pitchers, and more. These articles sold under the brand name “Pewter by Poole.”
