The Lighthouse Service was the predecessor to several earlier agencies within the US Government that were responsible for lighthouses. The Lighthouse Service was dissovled in July, 1939, after FDR had approved a resolution recognizing the 150th Anniversary of the federalization of lighthouse responsibilities.
