W901 was one of 60 W class locomotives built in 1951 to be used in Western Australia.

It arrived in Peterborough in 1979 and was restored in the mid 1980s by Steamtown.

It is pictured on the last run from Peterborough to Orroroo or Eurelia for the 1993 tourist train season.
