LAST NEW BOOK
A
brand new revised and greatly expanded second edition of author's
classic book on the logging railroads of famed Hew Hampshire
lumberman James Everell Henry.
This new edition, featuring
100 more pages and 40 additional photographs than the original
edition, tells the story of J.E. Henry's Zealand Valley Railroad and East
Branch & Lincoln Railroad (logging lines), which operated in New Hampshire's
White Mountains in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Long regarded as one of the greatest of the turn-of-the-century White Mountain lumber barons, James Everell (J.E.) Henry carved his way into the history books by commanding a small army of lumberjacks who cut clean the vast untouched forests of the Zealand River and East Branch valleys.
Author chronicles the history of Henry's two highly successful logging railroads, plus the men who worked the woods and the locomotives that steamed their way through the vast virgin forests of the White Mountains more than a century ago.
Along with more than 240 images, the book includes
numerous original maps and charts detailing the many facets of
Henry's logging operations.
Softcover,
8x10.5, 308 pages, 240 photos and illustrations, maps and
charts.
