Item Description:
This
auction is for one Morse Code keyboard control board. The board measures 2.6" long by 1.2" wide. When attached to a Mini DIN PC keyboard (not included) and powered by 6V DC to 16V DC, this board will key a positive key line transmitter or code oscillator. The keying circuit uses a MOSFET to ground to key most solid state transmitters. The control board is a miniature version of the DEC 88 QST keyboard controller. This controller can be used for Morse code instruction or classes, testing, and on air use. It's low power consumption is ideal for QRP operation. The beacon mode can be used for VLF experimentation or any purpose that requires a repeating Morse code transmission. Boards may vary slightly from picture but will function identically.
This board has the following features:
On board connector for Mini DIN PC keyboard
Programmable character Speed, Spacing, and Weight
200 character type ahead buffer (with backspace for characters not sent yet)
EEPROM storage for settings and seven 255 byte messages (retained with power OFF)
Messages can be included in line with typed characters
Amateur Radio Morse code (default) and select-able American Morse code (like the railroads used)
Beacon Mode, sends the same message at a programmable interval
Low power consumption, the PC keyboard will likely draw more power than the control board.
Can be configured to send 5WPM with 15WPM characters
Has three special character groups -- CQ, DE, PARIS
Has a four digit self incrementing contact counter that can be embedded in a message or sent manually
Manual keying using the paddle input for when you do not want to type.
MOSFET keying output (connects key line to ground to transmit)
To use the beacon mode, program a message, and set the board to beacon mode. Power down, detach the keyboard (optional) and power ON. The message will transmit at the interval programmed.
The American Morse code capability is great when an authentic telegraph sounder is used. A number of this board's big brothers are in museums clacking away.
The board will ship with the Power connector, Paddle connector and Key output connector with the (approx 6" long) wires attached as shown.
A printed manual with instructions for all of the features, circuit board layout, and schematic will be included.
