This is a rare programme (playbill) from the Original West End production of the new ALAN THORNHILL and WILLIAM L. REED musical comedy "ANNIE" at the Westminster Theatre in London. (The production opened July 27th, 1967 and ran for 156 performances before closing for the previously scheduled Westminster Christmas Show. The production would re-open on February 1st, 1968, with a few cast changes, and run for an additional 242 performances.) ..... The musical starred MARGARET BURTON in the title role, ANGELA RICHARDS and GERARD HELY and the cast included BILL KENWRIGHT, OLIVE LUCIUS and PHILIP NEWMAN ..... Side note: Not to be confused with the CHARLES STROUSE, MARTIN CHARNIN and THOMAS MEEHAN musical that would take Broadway and London by storm a decade later, this musical was based on the life story of ANNIE JAEGER, an early member of the Moral Rearmament Movement, who left her comfortable home surroundings in 1930's Stockport, England and came to London to spread her message of moral rearmament amongst the people of England's capital city .....
