Icelandic/Merino/Silk 2 ply Fingering 4oz skein undyed natural color. Condition is New.  Just in from The Other Side Farms! Beautiful yarn made from Gurdy Run Woolen Mills.  This yarn has the finished look you can expect from professionally done machine yarn, but it retains its homemade origins.  It has a blend of 65% Icelandic wool, 22% Merino wool top, and 13% silk.  The Icelandic Wool comes from the sheep here on the farm, skirted by yours truly.  I then package it all up and send it off to the mill, with my desired blend.  The blend of Icelandic wool, Merino top, and silk is the brainchild of my search for the yarn that balanced perfectly between softness, drape, while retaining a crisp stitching definition (it looks amazing done with any kind of cabling).  I've been offering this product now for several years and have gotten back very positive feedback from my customers.  I am thrilled, because it has the almost elven quality, like what Tolkein imagined when he was thinking of a fiber type for his books.  Icelandic is lightweight, but is rather more textured and can be rough, although it carries a natural sheen to it as well.  Merino is superfine, but heavy.  Silk is, well, silk- lightweight, fine, soft, shiny, strong and durable.  Added together, it's a match made in Heaven!  It is soft, and for my personal taste, I would put it next to skin.  It doesn't have the feeling of melting into your skin, but it is soft.   Skeins are 450 yards each, 2 ply.  The color is difficult to capture.  It is natural and undyed!  Looking at it closely, most of the fibers are white, some are natural color and just a few are darker, so it comes across as straw colored.    If you have any questions, please ask! Thanks for stopping by!

The knitting swatch is from my gray listing for the same weight and fiber content.  It's on size 3 wooden needles, coming out to being 22 stitches and 52 rows in garter stitch for a 4x4 swatch.
