These are a set of 12 flash cards 7 x 10 cm. Six have ‘The right time to talk’ on them and six ‘the wrong time to talk’ on them. They can be used in a variety of ways. They were designed with the pupil who continually calls out or interrupts in mind. You could try using them with the child being given the 'time to talk' cards on the edge of their desk and one card removed and replaced with the 'wrong time to talk' when they call out or talk at the wrong time, and rewarding them if they still have a certain amount of time to talk cards at the end of the day. Or the child could have all the cards and hold up one of each card of they are not sure and you could indicate which one is appropriate, taking away one if the instruction is not obeyed. You could also use them as a whole class approach to signify when it is communal talk time or quiet or listening time, thereby not singling out any one child in particular. These cards can be clearly seen by the teacher in a busy classroom and can also be used in any home or care setting.
