This is a laminated A4 chart which helps your child, young person or adult to tell you about their feelings. There is a space for them to put cards to say how they are feeling. This opens up discussions surrounding their choice, what’s happening to them and how they can deal with it. They can start to make strategies and ask for help and tell you what they want to do, or want you to do to help them feel better. This will also help them take charge of their emotions and also help control any negative behaviour. It will help the child or adult to make positive choices for themselves and have a better outcome. The chart will help the person using it and their carers to take more control of their lives and make independent decisions. We also do a chart with 3 boxes on depicting 'I was feeling', 'I am feeling' and 'I want to feel', this is a chart that can be progressed onto once the person using this one is confident and comfortable, and can think and feel past the 'immediate'.

There are 26 ‘Feelings’ cards, so there is a large selection for them to choose from. It may be a good idea to limit the number of cards in use to start with until the person has built up the confidence in using the chart and can cope with a large selection of choice.

This chart allows vital communication between the user and the carer to understand what has happened and recognise that things can be done to help change any negative feelings. It is great for use at home and at nursery, school, care setting and hospital. The pictures are easily understood by the person and they will learn to use them quickly. The cards are 4.5 cm square.

The chart will help all children, young people, adults who have autism, special needs, learning difficulties or memory loss. It is also ideal as an Early Learning Aid. The chart is laminated to protect it and can be wiped clean.

Think about ordering two charts and use them at other places the person needs to go regularly as consistency is very important.
