The genuine Nintendo circle pad is made of two pieces: a hard plastic part with a thicker rubber layer on top. It is common for the rubber to rip off the hard plastic. The circle pad sold in this listing is a single piece of hard plastic with a thin rubber textured membrane on the outside. It is a bit lighter and smoother than a genuine Nintendo circle pad but does not suffer the same problem of the rubber ripping off. It is largely buyer-preference for which type is preferred. The hard plastic one being sold here is generally more durable than others that have multiple parts.
