AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED BY GEORGE H.W. BUSH AS VICE PRESIDENT TO FELLOW WORLD WAR II VETERAN AND CIA AGENT STEPHEN W. BUMBALL

Bumball served as a special agent with the U.S. Army Counterintelligence during World War II.  His unit was responsible for the capture of Nazi General Franz Ritter von Epp.  Bumball later served with the Central Intelligence Agency beginning under Director Allen Dulles’ leadership.  He developed his friendship with Bush while he served as the Director of the CIA from 1976 to 1977 and, because of Bumball’s work and relationship, Bush nicknamed him “The Beehive.”

BUMBALL’S WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CAPTURE OF NAZI GENERAL FRANZ RITTER VON EPP AND SERVED WITH THE CIA BEGINNING UNDER ALLEN DULLES’ LEADERSHIP

The letter is one page on a vice presidential card, measures 6.25 by 4.25 inches, created in Washington, DC on March 20, 1981, in pristine condition, and accompanied with the original mailing envelope containing a Bush facsimile signature.
