Once upon a time in Nottingham, England, there lived an intrepid body of chess players who decided to bring out their own chess pamphlets. They founded a company, The Chess Player, which brought low-price goods to the masses thirsting for chess knowledge. This is one of their works.
Manila, 1973 was one of many "Fischer Boom" tournaments. Sadly, Fischer did not play in even one of them. Bent Larsen used Manila as a way to get the bad memories of 1971 out of his mind: first, Larsen, 13 1/2; Second, Ljubojevic, 12 1/2; Third, Kavalek and Tatai, the first great showing by an Italian master in centuries, 11. 100+ games, most of them annotated.
