This item is a 3 metre length of 10mm wide Sparkle Pseudo hackle which is available in a multitude of fish attracting colours and shades, many of which i have dyed myself.
Sparkle Pseudo hackle can be used instead of feathers etc and can be incorporated into an almost limitless amount of fly dressings, you just have to use your imagination.
Can be used on lures, wet flies and nymphs etc and the results are tremendous, use the brighter colours to jazz up lures or try the more subtle shades trimmed short on nymphs, examples of a few flies are shown in the main listing picture.
It has certain advantages over feather hackles as it can be cut to any width, tapered if desired, is available in fantastic colours and shades, has light catching qualities and is very easy to use.
Please note you will receive the product uncut, that way you can cut it yourself to the desired hackle length - preparation instructions are below :-
Simply cut lengthwise with scissors to the desired width and then strip off all the long lateral fibres running along the entire length of the section in hand until you come to the bottom woven edge
(as per picture above), then simply tie it in ready to wind as a palmered or normal hackle or cut off a few fibres to make a false hackle, the stripped off long fibres can be used for ribbing or adding to wings and tails etc so nothing goes to waste.
I find it easier to work with if cut into shorter lengths of about 12 inches before stripping the lateral fibres.
Ties in easy and leaves very little bulk, gives off a nice attractive sheen and provides that all important movement in the water due to it's softness and mobility, this material has all the fish catching qualities.
