Fitment & Installation

Suitable for many petrol and diesel engines including cars, vans and light commercial vehicles. Steel Seal is added directly into the vehicle cooling system following the supplied treatment instructions. Always allow the engine to cool fully before opening the cooling system.
Steel Seal circulates through the cooling system and is drawn towards the point of combustion leakage. Once exposed to the temperature difference created by the fault, the formula activates and forms a durable seal at the failure point. Unlike many cheaper alternatives, Steel Seal contains no fibres or solid particles that may contribute to cooling system blockages.

Step 1 – Add Steel Seal
With the engine completely cold, remove the radiator cap and pour the required amount of Steel Seal directly into the radiator. If your vehicle does not have a conventional radiator cap (common on modern systems), pour Steel Seal into the expansion / header tank instead. Replace the cap securely.

Step 2 – Run Engine to Temperature
Turn the heater control to HOT and the fan to maximum so coolant flows through the heater matrix. Start the engine and allow the vehicle to warm up to normal operating temperature so that the thermostat opens and Steel Seal can circulate throughout the system. Once at normal temperature, let the engine idle for 30 minutes. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge and do not allow the engine to overheat.

Step 3 – Cool, Top Up and Drive Normally
Switch off the engine and allow it to cool down completely. When cool, check and top up the coolant level with water and/or antifreeze as necessary, then refit the radiator or expansion cap. Leave Steel Seal in the system and drive the vehicle as normal. The seal will continue to cure as the engine heats and cools through normal use.
