These are 0603 SMD cool white flashing LEDs with a built-in controller that cycles on and off at approximately 1.5Hz — no external timing circuit needed, just add power and a resistor.
Each LED operates at 3.0–3.2V forward voltage at 20mA, produces 675 mcd of output through a diffused lens, and covers a 120° viewing angle. The 0606 footprint (sometimes listed as 0603) fits standard SMD pads on most hobby and consumer electronics PCBs. The diffused lens softens the flash for a clean, even blink rather than a harsh point source.
Common applications
The self-flashing behavior and cool white color make these particularly useful where you want attention-grabbing blink effects without adding a microcontroller or 555 timer:
- Console LED mods — fits Xbox 360 Ring of Light boards (4 quadrant + center LEDs), Xbox One power button boards, PS3 front panel indicators, and Wii faceplate lighting where the 0603 footprint is standard
- Controller mods — DualShock 3 player indicator LEDs (4 per controller, confirmed 0603); Wiimote player indicators
- Mechanical keyboard per-key lighting — replaces dead individual key LEDs on Corsair K65, K70, K90, and custom PCBs using 0603 SMD footprints

Animated LEDs (flashing, flickering, fading) require DC — they will not operate correctly on AC power. If you are working from a low-voltage AC source such as a model railroad transformer or DCC output, convert to DC first with a MB1S bridge rectifier paired with a 100µF 50V electrolytic capacitor for smoothing. Without the capacitor, the animation pattern may glitch on the pulsed DC output of a bare rectifier.

Animated LEDs require DC. Convert AC sources to DC using a bridge rectifier plus a 100µF smoothing capacitor for clean, ripple-free animation.
