This is a replica of the famous Supermarine Spitfire Used extensively by the British throughout World War II this versatile plane was used for many purposes throughout the war, including Interceptor, photo-reconnaissance, fighter bomber and flight trainer, and it continued to serve in these roles until the 1950's!
This Spitfire IIA is "The Bourough of Lambeth" - "Stap Me" aircraft, a replica of an actual plane that first flew in May 1941 out of Ibsley, Hampshire, for the No 118 Squadron. It got its name from the fact that the plane was originally purchase for the RAF by subscripitons from the residents living in the south London Borough of Lambeth, and was assigned to Pilot - Officer Alec Lumsden of the No 188th Squadron.
This is a period specific model and has AWESOME detail... simply incredible.
