Trailers that do not exceed 3.5 tonnes ATM must have a quick release coupling which is designed to be engaged and disengaged without the use of tools. It must be of a positive locking type with provision for a second independent device. The locking must be readily verifiable by visual inspection. 

Fixed none brake coupling normally suited to a 50mm Australian Standard tow ball, where either no brakes fitted or the brake system does not require activation from a sliding or overrun coupling. They come in different mounting ways up to 2000kg capacity.

Q; What’s the size of my tow ball?

A: 50mm is the most common size which is 50m Diameter. 50mm ball couplings used on trailers with an ATM that does not exceed 3.5 tonnes must comply with Australian Standard AS 4177.3-2004. 70mm tow ball carry up to 6000kg.


Q: Can I weld the coupling? 

A: Check the stamped on the coupling. The words ‘DO NOT WELD’ mean the coupling body is manufactured from non-weldable materials; the words ‘WELD ONLY’ mean the coupling body is specifically designed to be attached by welding only.

Galvanised--It is the process of coating iron and steel with a layer of zinc by immersing the metal in a bath of molten zinc at a temperature of around 840 °F (449 °C). Galvanized steel is corrosion resistance is needed. Suit for all marine stuff.


Q: What’s the difference between fixed and override coupling 

A: Override or overrun coupling use for a braking system that use an override principal. The coupling has a sliding shaft attached to the tow ball housing of the coupling. Fixed coupling with fixed body only.
