This is an original printed production art page from The XMen #22, published by Marvel Comics in July of 1966. This is from the classic story "Divided -- We Fall!" In this story, the original mutant super-hero team must deal with the menace of the evil super-villain Count Nefaria, the head of the Maggia crime syndicate, in one of his earliest Silver Age appearances after his battles with the Avengers and Iron Man. Nefaria is well-known to X-Men fans, as he re-appeared in the classic X-Men #94 in 1975 that began the run of the New X-Men, with Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus added to the team.

The sheet measures approximately 10 3/4" by 14", and please note that it does have a large tear (about 1 3/4" long) at the top edge, that you should be able to see in the scan on Pages 17 and 18. The sheet features some great images, as there's a large splash image of Count Nefaria surrounded by his henchmen, which includes the villains the Eel, the Porcupine, the Plantman, the Scarecrow, and the Uncanny Unicorn! There are also great images of Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), the Beast, the Angel, and Iceman, along with Professor X (Charles Xavier). The X-Men are shown in and out of costume, and also in some cool battle action. The sheet contains 4 total pages (2 on each side). Besides the tear, the page is still overall in very good displayable condition and is not cut or stapled. Please note that this is NOT a mass-produced print or lithograph. It is also not from a reprint, it is an actual sheet from the 1960's. This is an exceptional rare piece of comic production art, that would look great framed, and would be a true key piece in any collection.

Please note that this is an authentic piece from the 1960's, not something made for a later reprint or collection book. We have been told there are reprint production art pieces being listed by other sellers that make them seem to be old and from original printings, even though they are not (for example, older production art did not have the words on a separate sheet from the images. Those kinds of things were only done much more recently, using computer technology). We advise buyers to be careful, as there are disreputable sellers tricking many people into believing they are purchasing items that are older and more valuable than what they actually are. Some sellers simply do not state their items are from reprints, while others make very long listings and put a tiny mention about reprints buried deep in the listing, and/or use a hard-to-read font color (like yellow) to prevent buyers from seeing this information. Unfortunately, everything else in the listing (the title, pictures of the cover of the comic from the 1st printing, etc.) makes you think you are buying something from an original printing, and ebay has allowed this to continue despite many buyers saying that they have been taken for a ride and ripped off. This item is a genuine piece from the '60's, not something made for a reprint. We clearly differentiate items from original printings and items from reprints, so you can buy with confidence.
