The Hatmaker Vol 1, No 12 CONDITION: new, softcover, crisp and glossy covers, 19 pages, 2008, unabridged, published by Bramcost Publications Originally published in the late 1940s, this vintage millinery publication contains instructions for making four hats as well as millinery and fashion tidbits in vogue. In this issue: The Bride's Veil -- This article discusses how to wear your veil, length of veils and arranging the tulle. "Coronet" -- Instructions and supplies necessary for creating a Coronet bridal hat. Pretty Fingers -- Gracefulness when using hands, hand care and hand care tips from movie stars. "Halo" -- Line drawing diagram and instructions for creating a Halo bridesmaid (or bridal) hat. "Crescent Model in Swiss Rapal Braid" -- Pattern and detailed instructions for creating a Crescent hat. The author suggests this hat is adaptable in a variety of ways and by changing trims and colors it is suitable for all occasions. Pictures are shown for use as an informal bridal hat. The "Cartwheel Crinoline" Made in a Firmly Patterned Braid -- Detailed instructions and supply list are provided to make this graceful, wide brimmed and crownless hat. . Preparing and Serving a Buffet Tea -- Decorating, fruit punch recipe, food serving choices, and champaign toast recipe for serving a wedding breakfast in your home. Modelled on the Cloche - Choose a Little Hat for Travelling -- The hat pictured on the cover is detailed with text instructions and supply list. Workroom Prescriptions -- A list of pointers that will help you with binding a brim edge, bleaching straws, cleaning felt hats, and cleaning straw hats. Hats Take a Starboard Tilt -- This article discusses how to wear the "new" hat which is referred to as a "starboard tilt" swinging downward and forward over the right ear. Springtime colors in vogue are also discussed. Line drawings of four "starboard tilt" hats are shown in the pictures to the right as a guide for how to wear the new hats. Harmonize Hair Styles -- This article discusses cleanliness of hair and the ease of short hairstyles when wearing hats.
