Mollom FDB01058R8 2-5/16" (58.8mm) Forstner Drill Bit YG8 Carbide 2.0mm

A large-diameter Forstner bit for woodworkers who need clean, flat-bottomed holes, such as for door hinge recesses and other cabinetry work. It cuts a 58.8 mm (2-5/16 inch) hole and has a 10 mm round shank, a 60 mm usable drilling depth and a 94 mm overall length. The cutting edges are made from YG8 carbide, which is rated at a hardness of 91 HRA or higher and can be resharpened. The blade is 2.0 mm thick, which the listing describes as a heavier blade than a 1.3 mm version. The shank is made from No. 45 steel and has been quenched for hardness. For best results with hardwood, choose a bit at the matching size; for softwood, the listing suggests going 0.2 to 0.5 mm smaller. Use a drill press or a vise to hold the workpiece steady and keep the drill vertical. Note that the bit is not suitable for metal.
