This product is a vintage metal elephant table lighter made in Occupied Japan during the era of 1945-1952. The table lighter features a silver color and is in pristine condition, with an unused wick. It is a unique and collectible piece that represents the historical period and cultural significance of Japan during that time. Perfect for collectors of vintage lighters or those interested in Occupation-era memorabilia.
Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible mid-century vintage figural elephant table lighter. This classic piece of tobacciana was manufactured during the post-WWII Allied occupation of Japan. It features an incredibly detailed cast-metal elephant body with a raised trunk (a traditional symbol of good luck) and an ornate blanket draped over its back. The removable cylinder lighter mechanism inserts seamlessly into the elephant’s back.
- Mechanism & Wick: Excellent vintage condition. The close-up photos reveal an unburned, pristine white cloth wick and sharp teeth on the flint wheel, indicating the lighter mechanism has seen little to no actual use.
- Cosmetics: The metal body displays a wonderful authentic vintage patina, with minor golden-yellow aging/varnish wear typical of high-quality mid-century castings. No cracks, chips, or deep corrosion.
- Testing: Mechanism functions smoothly and turns properly. Item will be shipped empty with NO lighter fluid or active flint included to strictly comply with postal and shipping safety regulations.
