This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 5½ x 3½ inches (139x88mm).
It shows a boy standing in a photographer's studio, posed between a rustic fence made of branches and a stone pedestal. His hand rests on the top rail of the fence. The pedestal has a panel with an octagonal moulding and stands in front of a painted stone wall. The painted backdrop has flowers and foliage, and a patterned cloth covers the floor. The image is printed sideways on the card.
The reverse has a printed postcard back headed 'Post Card', with the sections marked 'Correspondence.' and 'Address.' The printed number '511' appears in the top right corner.
Each photograph offered has been selected on its own merits from that wider collection. The result is a group of images that are both individually compelling and part of a coherent, carefully built body of work. For collectors, this offers an opportunity to acquire material selected by a discerning eye, whether to strengthen an existing collection or to begin a new one.
This collection is being dispersed in stages, with several hundred additional photographs being listed each month.
