Up for sale is a 2-book lot of LETHARGIC COMICS, WEAKLY #1 and #2 — Alpha Productions, June and July 1991. 32 pages each, black-and-white interiors, color covers ($1.95 Canadian / $1.75 US cover price).

Canadian indie superhero parody by Greg Hyland — the home of LETHARGIC LAD, the hero who can barely be bothered, backed by the most ridiculous supporting cast in comics: Guy-With-A-Gun (a Punisher spoof), Walrus Boy (whose origin story spoofs Spider-Man), the Zit, HIM, the Grad, Dirty Harrold, and the No Mutants. Stories and art by Hyland with Brian Lemay, Luc Latulippe, Steve Remen and various.

• #1 (June 1991) — FIRST ISSUE, the series premiere: the whole gang on the cover, Lethargic Lad front and center. Back cover is a painted Lethargic Lad piece against a brick wall.

• #2 (July 1991) — the famous cover: a full DETECTIVE COMICS #27 HOMAGE — Batman's first-appearance cover redrawn with Lethargic Lad swinging over the rooftops clutching a teddy bear. "Continuing in this issue the unique adventures of the Lethargic Lad." Back cover carries the black-and-yellow L-logo art.

Note: the series ran at least 10 issues — this is the #1–2 pair, not a complete set. Fronts and backs of both books pictured.

CONDITION: Both books grade about NM- 9.2 from the front and back photos — bright, clean, glossy copies with sharp corners. No corner close-ups were taken; ask if you'd like more photos.
