The 1969 Ford XL SportsRoof is one of the most overlooked and underappreciated full-size cars of its era. Ford completely redesigned the XL for 1969 on an all-new platform with a longer 121-inch wheelbase, and the SportsRoof body style brought a distinctive tunnel-back roofline with flying buttress sail panels that gave the car a profile unlike anything else in the Ford lineup.
