1795 Liberty Cap Large Cent. Accurately attributed to the Sheldon variety index as an S-76b piece, representing the Plain Edge variety featuring both an authentic mint-made planchet rim clip error and distinct mechanical strike characteristics. This raw coin features a stable honey-chocolate-brown patina showing an old, historic alteration of color from an early cleaning that has completely settled. The obverse portrait displays strong design parameters with legible hair details, bold date digits, and a characteristic blunt strike showing a raised mechanical outline along the bottom of the bust truncation. The reverse is well preserved, featuring the diagnostic high placement of ONE CENT within the wreath and a prominent crescent planchet rim clip spanning the lower right border. Review the high-resolution images to evaluate the copper surfaces and determine your own final assessment. Minted back when George Washington was president, this piece of history would make a nice addition to any early copper collection.
