Unusual vintage chenille Santa Claus Christmas ornament, approximately 5¾" tall, featuring a bright orange suit, lime-green mittens, and a wonderfully expressive molded plastic face.
This whimsical Santa has a tall pointed chenille hat with white pom-pom, white trim around his hood and coat, black boots, and a black belt with a sparkling gold buckle.
His molded plastic face features bright blue eyes, white eyebrows, and distinctive facial details. Visible glue around the face appears consistent with the ornament's original construction.
The body appears to be constructed from chenille-covered wire, giving the figure its characteristic fuzzy texture and lightweight form.
Likely mid-20th century, although the exact age, maker, and country of origin are unknown. I believe Japanese, but can't be certain.
