Antique watercolour Gorges du Verdon France, monogrammed H.C., French landscape.

A charming antique original watercolour of the Gorges du Verdon in Provence, monogrammed H.C. The painting sits on a textured mount in its original wood frame, with the old iron hanging loops and braided cord still on the back. 27 x 22cm including the frame.

The Gorges du Verdon is often called Europe's Grand Canyon, with limestone cliffs rising up to 700 metres above the river.

Good antique condition. The painting is still vibrant, with natural age-toning to the mount and light, honest surface wear to the frame.

Probably painted in France, c.1900-1930s. A lovely French country or Parisian vintage piece for a small wall.
